TIPS WHEN COMPARING:
1. 70% of our jobs recovered this year required Level 3 or 4 work. Companies offering $199 and $399 are typically looking for the few simple, Level 1 or Level 2, small corrupted-file or similarly easy jobs. We offer such price points for simple recoveries from flash drives or SD cards.
- However, they put the 70% of recovery jobs at tremendous risk, and could be misleading customers with prices for simple recoveries.
2. Do they have a fully equipped and staffed clean room, should one be needed to complete your recovery?
- Are parts included in the cost?
- If the inexpensive, "off-the-shelf" software doesn't work immediately, what other steps do they take?
- Who are their customers or clients? Testimonials are nice although they are easy to get from friends.
- Level 3 and Level 4 recoveries require a clean room and a lab to dissemble, repair and reassemble the hard drive - along with the cost of the replacement seals and parts.
3. NOT CHEAP: A clean room that allows no more than 100 particles per cubic foot, with a particle being something 0.5 micrometers or bigger (you would need to stack 200 particles atop one another to get the thickness of standard copy paper) from the work area is required for Level 3 and Level 4 recoveries.
- Equipment to manipulate the microscopic parts is also required; this is not a place for hardware store-bought needle nose pliers or tweezers.
- Equipment to unsolder and resolder chips and leads has the special ability to heat and melt the solder without melting or damaging the chips or PCB.
4. NOT CHEAP: How many years have the technicians been doing data recovery?
- Finding technicians with experience is difficult and they make a huge difference because of their ability to interpret the drive's responses or reactions to the various tools used.
- TIP: Clean room equipment is only as good as the skill and experience of the technician. An experienced technician can decipher sounds, vibrations, lack of vibrations and patterns of error messages. Like a doctor, many, many cases require human interpretation to get it right.
Yes, we receive hard drives after an unsuccessful attempt by a "so called" hard disk data recovery expert. In some cases, their zealous effort to recover data with limited tools and applications result in further corruption of the data; this can permanently prevent the recovery of the data.
Caring staff: Most of our business is from referrals; much coming from Computer Repair shops and IT departments that have referred multiple customers. In addition to our quality work, they appreciate how our Service Advisors and hard disk data recovery experts give personal attention to each customer.
