What is Linux?
Linux is a Unix-like operating system that was designed by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world. Since it was developed under the GNU General Public License , the source code for Linux is free, allowing personal computer users a free or very low-cost operating system alternative to the expensive Unix systems. Linux has a reputation as a very efficient and fast-performing system.

At that time, developers considered a storage capacity of 10 MB too large for a 'personal' computer.
