What is a tape drive?
A tape drive is a device, like a tape recorder, that reads data from and writes it onto a tape. Tape drives can have data capacities from a few hundred kilobytes to several gigabytes.

What is FAT?
FAT is an acronym for File Allocation Table. It is a table that the operating system uses to locate files on the hard drive. Due to file fragmentation, a file may be divided into many sections scattered across the disk. The FAT keeps track of the location of all the pieces.
