Media Corruption
What is media corruption? Media corruption is a failure in which there is no physical damage to the media, but certain areas on the media have been mistakenly overwritten. The fault lies with the storage device, not a virus or the operating system. In many cases, not only is the customer's data overwritten, but also low-level information that is critical to the basic operation of the hard drive. Often this information can be recreated using our special tools and techniques, rendering a successful recovery.

What is stiction?
Stiction is a data recovery term that describes the type of failure that occurs when the read-write heads stick to the drive's platter when the hard drive has become inactive for a long time.
