  1. Greetings from Sydney, Australia. Believe it or not I got here via Reddit, not Twitter or Google. Thanks for the interesting post. It helped me a lot with my school domestic science assignment :)

    I would like to start off by stating, thank you for providing me with the information I’ve been looking for. I have been searching the net for three hours searching for it and wish I would have located your website sooner. Not only did I find what I was looking for, but also found answers to questions I never even thought to ask. Thank you for such a wonderful web-site!

    Most medium, small and home users experiencing data loss, are just as lost as their data when it comes to the question what to do next. When they are trying to figure out what is the right approach to getting their digital life back and possibly their business back on track, they should consider this;
    It is by no means a simple answer, because taking the wrong step could render their data unrecoverable. If I could suggest a recommended path, it would be to try to assess if they are truly dealing with a data loss or system male-function. In most cases they should turn to a PC professional (not a wanting to be one, but a real one) for a diagnosis to determine if the problem is the drive or the rest of the system. Armed with that information, if the diagnosis is that the drive is the problem. They should ask for a referral to a professional data recovery lab, preferably a local lab, if there is one. The risk of letting the PC/IT professional try to do it, is that he may be trying too much (see our other prost “WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”) and cause further damage, and therefore the recovery may end up costing more or become impossible. If you notice, there are similarities to the way people should act when faced with a serious ailment, first getting it diagnosed by a reliable local clinic, and if it is truly serious ask for a referral to a specialist.

    I’ve had 3 mini SD cards go bad for no apparent reason. Anyone else having problems with these?

    I have been hearing alot of buzz about Mozy… an online back up service. It’s affordable, user friendly, and reputable. You can select individual files and folders to be backed up at a time increment you choose. I like to back up my personal pictures from my home pc since I get so far behind on having them printed.

  8. MB says:

    Any small business owners have experience using an online back-up program?

  9. MB says:

    All too often do I hear the words “If my data can’t be recovered, I’ll lose my business”. If only there was a back-up. Take the time today to do your back-up. Be prepared, if your back-up should fail, have provisions and a relationship set up with a data recovery provider.

    Data recovery is not a matter of if, but only when. Too many people don’t realize this. Also, people think “I own a Mac. It is made not to fail like a PC”. While this is somewhat true for the operating system and corruption issues. A physical failure to the hard drive can happen no matter what operating system it is associated with.

  11. Jason says:

    A lot of small businesses aren’t willing to invest money in a professional high quality website because the don’t see the underlying potential to dramatically increase their bottom line using the Internet as a media.

  12. Hal Schlenger says:

    Website relaunch is about to happen. It should be helpful to prospective customers to have access to this useful information when they are faced with needing data recovery services. We know “life happens.” We’ve been here for nearing 20 years helping people get their (digital) life back….and the website will be another piece to doing so.

  13. Jason says:

    One day it will. And that day is here for some people.
